ABOUT US

Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan, Mumbai is the branch office of Swami Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan, Rishikesh. This branch propagates the principles of our Gurudev Swami Omkarananda Saraswati. It pursues religious activities and performs the religious rituals as envisaged by our Gurudev Swami Omkaranandaji. This branch - apart from various religious discourses and discussions on Hinduism during the year - has been holding a special session of Havans and Yagnas on the auspicious birthday of our Gurudev on 25th December every year. On this day a special exhibition is organised incorporating artistic and creative abilities of children and young people in the light of our religious edicts. This branch office has also been graced by His Holiness Sankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswati from the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, His Holiness Shankaracharya Shri Bharateerth Swamigal of Sringeri Mutt and Head of Hawai Ashram, His Holiness Swami Sivaya Subramaniumji.

Thus in our own humble way so far we have been exploring and explaining the Karam-Kand aspect of our religion. Now we have also started in-depth study of the Gyan-Vigyan aspect of our religion. We have and are continually making researches especially of the Vigyan aspects of our religion. Our Dharma and Dharmikta cannot be encompassed in the word religion which is dimensional. Our Dharma and Dharmikta are entirely based on our four Vedas and the entire edifice of our Dharma and Dharmikta is constructed and supported by our Vedas.

All the branches of our Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan emphasise the need to learn Sanskrit and arrange all kinds of facilities in full measures to get the knowledge of Sanskrit. Due to the lack of Vedic knowledge our Dharma and Dharmikta are very much misunderstood and we as a community are much maligned.

Before alighting for His heavenly abode on 4th January 2000 our reverent Gurudev - H.H. Swami Omkaranandaji. He gave us the clarion call :

AWAKE ! ARISE !! ACT !!!
Work with great zeal and no personal ambition of any kind.

Now, this is our mission. And the Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan, Mumbai lives and breathes for the fulfilment of this mission.
